Interlinkages between Technology Needs Assessments and national and international climate policy making processes

On 1-2 June of this year, the UNFCCC Secretariat hosted a workshop on Technology Needs Assessments. Key discussion points were:

  • Lessons learned and good practices in conducting TNAs: experience of developing countries with TNAs as well as experience of supporting institutes such as GIZ, GTI, UNDP, UNEP.
  • Implementation of results of TNAs: how can the development and transfer of technologies and measures identified in a TNA be accelerated?
  • Strategie and recommendations for the future of the TNA process: possible role of TNAs in context of implementation of Technology Mechanism and possible role of TNAs in enhanced action on technology development and transfer to support action on mitigation and adaptation.
