Handbook for Conducting Technology Needs Assessment for Climate Change: This updated handbook provides hands-on guidance for identifying the most effective technology options for poverty reduction and climate change mitigation and adaptation. The publication guides decision makers in areas such as switching from traditional to clean cook stoves, a move which could prevent 2 million premature deaths annually in the developing world.
The handbook draws on the experience of nearly 100 technology needs assessments with the objective of identifying technology options that lower emissions and build resilience to climate change. It provides guidance from how to form appropriate teams, analyze sectors and articulate priorities, to creating actionable plans as part of national climate change strategies. The Handbook was presented on 9 December 2010 at the 16th Conference of Parties in Cancun, Mexico by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). It is available here.
